Courtney Geister APRN, IFMCP

After the illnesses and eventual deaths of my parents, I just kept wondering, what happened?  My mother was a health conscientious person who wore sun hats, utilized natural remedies, tried to cure everything with aloe vera, and taught us about how to be healthy.  Yet, she died from Alzheimer's disease.  Working as a nurse, I observed patient's chronic complaints become a daily task of pill taking, worsened chronicity, and eventual deaths while never understanding what actually caused it.  Finding functional medicine confirmed my observations that our bodies are amazing machines that are finely tuned to inputs and outputs.  Finding health means discovering what is causing dysfunction and providing the body what is needed to restore balance.

Throughout my medical experience and life lessons, I learned that maintaining balance is part of life's journey which evolves with you  Health can be cultivated by learning to hear your body's signals, and adjusting to its needs at every stage of life.

I decided to commit myself to learning as much as I could in prevention and chose to pursue my certification with a leader in the industry, the institute of Functional Medicine, because their health model considered your entire environment including spiritual.  Functional Medicine involves understanding the origins, prevention and treatment of chronic conditions to treat the root cause of dysfunction.  By understanding the relevant factors that may lead to chronic conditions, patients can become empowered about their health.  Health agency and literacy in our current environment is possible and it can guide you in aging with vitality.

If you have found that you are in a state of Dis-Ease, we welcome you to make an appointment to discuss you health priority!
